At her Town Hall Listening Session, DA Gonzalez admitted she ran for office as an administrator not a prosecutor. Her office has a pattern of not filing paperwork on time resulting in defendants either receiving bond after multiple attempts (available to commit new crimes) or freed because they did not receive a speedy trial.
What kind of ‘administrator’ does not see to it that paperwork is filed on time with the courts? This is important to the safety and security of UGA students and the entire Athens-Clarke County community.
Update: 5/9/2023 DA Gonzalez’s Hearing was conducted in Oconee County. A ruling is anticipated this week. Oconne County Court Room Hearing story 11Alive here.
